The Feathers Hotel in Ledbury is a popular choice but we are able to provide details of others in the area if requested.
Most clients opt to arrive the night before their activities commence and depart the day after their activities end.
We can book hotels for you but most clients make their own arrangements. If we make the arrangements your tour fee will include accommodation and breakfast. Lunches can be either packed lunches provided by the hotel (at extra cost) or purchased by clients at historic public houses near to the sites being visited. Dinner is an optional extra for clients.
Clients opting for single day activities can also stay at the same hotel for the night before or after their day with us.
The nearest international airport to the hotel is Birmingham. There are excellent train links from Birmingham and London Heathrow Airports to nearby rail stations in Ledbury or Gloucester where clients can be met.

A recent review - June 2023
"I’ve steeped myself in Anglo-Norman history since I was sixteen and while I’m far from an academic, know more about England’s medieval history than most Americans. Conversely, my husband appreciated major sites I dragged him through like Falaise and Dover Castles and was fascinated by the Bayeux Tapestry, but he’s content with an hour or two of this kind of site-seeing.
The TimeQuest experience changed that.
Our two guides (both called Richard) kept us both captivated for three days with sites and stories of medieval life and warfare on the Welsh border. I had mentioned castle construction interests me in my initial email – so we were shown the remnants of a motte and bailey site, and then three castles that showed the evolution of castle engineering.
Another interest is the Wars of the Roses – we were given a presentation about the Battle of Tewksbury, complete with visual aids and a battlefield model, before dinner one evening, and then escorted through the battle site itself the next day, with running commentary that (again) matched both of our interests and knowledge levels.
The duo tossed in a few extras, like a fascinating Templar Chapel and a side trip to Worcester Cathedral since King John’s tomb is there.
The gentlemen were also a lot of fun just to chat with, as well as very kind and thoughtful.
I can’t recommend Timequest highly enough – the whole experience was just wonderful.

Our base is set in the historic " Three Counties" of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire and a few minutes drive from the Welsh border. This region was of immense strategic importance during the medieval period resulting in the construction of numerous castles and armed conflict.
The close proximity of so many important locations means that you will not spend hours travelling between sites each day. Many are within thirty minutes of your hotel using traffic free country roads
You will visit some of the most interesting and spectacular castles in the highly contested border area between England and Wales. Some are large and famous whilst others are smaller and well off the usual tourist trails. There will also be the chance to visit some archaeological sites unique to us including the remains of an early "motte and bailey" castle and site of a moated manor house.
You will have the opportunity to visit the sites of some of the most famous battles in British history in the company of military experts .
You can learn the skills of a medieval longbow archer and experience what it would have been like to be a medieval foot soldier in combat .
For those who wish there will be the opportunity to re-fight famous medieval battles as table top wargames to see if you can change the course of history!
You can choose to do a one day activity or put together a multi day experience of up to five days.
Bespoke tours / experiences can be arranged for individuals or groups. The maximum group size is eight so you will never feel part of a crowd and you will always have the attention of your guide or instructor.
Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our visit to your event today. Your instructors were very knowledgeable and brought history to life.We learned a lot about warfare and are grateful not to have been born then but find the Medieval times fascinating.
We will tell our Archery companions about your business and they might just look you up.
Good luck with future events,
Kind Regards
